This VIP experience shows you through the behind-the-scenes workings of the Cairns Aquarium. You will get views and explanations of the fish food preparation rooms, innovative plant and equipment that filters the millions of litres of water on site, coral propagation facilities and a stop at the onsite turtle hospital to see how we care and rehabilitate sick and injured sea turtles. You will also enjoy a scatter feed to the outback river monsters and hand feed the gentle Cownose rays. Marine life encounter includes admission to the Cairns Aquarium so you can experience the entire journey itself at-leisure.

- 11:30 am - Self-guided entry through aquarium
- 12:45 pm - Meet with one of our passionate wildlife educators
- 1:00pm - Hand feed the Cownose sting rays with the curatorial team

- Cairns Aquarium is located at 5 Florence St (on the corners of Abbott, Florence and Lake Sts), only a short walk from all major Cairns City hotels
Additional Information
- Children must be 12+ years to hand rays (souvenir gift will be substituted for children under 12).
- Wear shorts or trousers & closed toe shoes.
- You will be required to kneel down when you feed the ray.
- Be mindful of your noise, do not make loud noises.
- Do not touch the animals or the contents of their enclosure.
- Children are the responsibility of their parents/guardians or carer and must be supervised at all times. Children cannot attend this tour without a guardian present.
- Please tread carefully in this area, do not run in this area. There may be water present on floor.
- Lifts, escalators and accessible toilets throughout the attraction.
- If you are unable to walk onto the viewing deck for turtle hospital, you can still see the turtles in the tank through a viewing window.
- Wheelchair or Pram is accessible for Self guided walk through however not for Behind the Scene Guided Tour due to the Nature of the tour.
Cancellation Policy
- Any cancellations requested more than 48 hours prior to the visit date will be refunded.
- Any cancellations requested within 48 hours, regardless of the booking date, will incur 100% cancellation fees or we may amend the date of the booking - subject to availability.
- If numbers are reduced on the visit date, 100% cancellation fee will occur for the total cancelled.
