What you need to know
Location

Take a journey with a Gunditjmara cultural guide through 'Tungatt Mirring' or 'Stone Country,' and learn about the creation of the historic Budj Bim Cultural Landscape from ancient times through to the present day. Visit the Kurtonitj Indigenous Protected Area (IPA), located at the very heart of the landscape.

See ancient stone kooyang (eel) traps and stone channels, remnants of stone house sites and kooyang smoking trees. Head over to Budj Bim National Park and explore the Budj Bim volcanic crater, now called 'Lake Surprise', where the legend of Budj Bim began.

Enjoy a guided bush walk and see lava tunnels, caves, wildlife and the surrounding forest. See the dry stone walls at Lake Gorrie, before lunch at the Tae Rak Aquaculture Centre. After lunch join the afternoon guided walk of Tae Rak (Lake Condah) for a deep dive into the ancient aquaculture systems used by the Gunditjmara people over thousands of years.
