There are plenty of ways to visit the snow—but only one that combines alpine fun with Melbourne’s most awarded small-group touring experience. Join Go West Tours for a full day of snow play, scenic beauty, and sweet indulgence on our Lake Mountain Snow Tour. With thousands of five-star reviews, professional, expert guides, and upgraded vehicle comfort, we don’t just take you to the snow—we deliver a day to remember.

Departing Melbourne between 7:00 and 8:00am (no painful 5am wake-up calls here!), you’ll travel east in our air conditioned 24-seater vehicle with comfortable seating and free onboard Wi-Fi. Along the way, your exceptional Go West guide will share stories and local knowledge to bring the landscape to life.

Your first stop is Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, where you’ll enjoy approximately 3 hours of free time to build snowmen, race down toboggan slopes, or jump into a spontaneous snowball fight!

From there, we wind through the picturesque Black Spur to reach Steavenson Falls, one of Victoria’s highest waterfalls. Soak in the crisp air and natural beauty on a short walk to the base of the falls—perfect for photos and peaceful moments.

To finish, we visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery, where you can browse handcrafted treats and perhaps reward your day’s efforts with a hot chocolate or two.

Whether it’s your first time in the snow or a family tradition, our Lake Mountain Snow Tour is crafted to offer more than just a trip—it’s a genuine Go West experience: comfortable, personal, and led by the very best in the business.

FAQs

Q: What time does the tour depart and return? A: The tour departs Melbourne between 7:00–8:00am and returns around 6:00–6:30pm.

Q: Do I need to bring snow gear? A: Snow clothing and toboggans can be hired at Lake Mountain. Gloves, socks, goggles and beanies cannot be hired due to hygiene reasons but can be purchased.

Q: What clothing should I wear? A: We recommend warm, waterproof clothing, including a jacket, pants, beanie, scarf, gloves and snow boots. If you have thermals, they’re also a great option!

Q: Can I ski at Lake Mountain? A: Unfortunately, Lake Mountain Resort are not offering ski lessons or hire this season. Due to the lack of appropriate storage space on our touring vehicles, guests cannot bring their own skis, snowboards or toboggans. But don’t worry, you can still hire toboggans at the resort and enjoy their designated snow play areas!

Q: Are meals included? A: Meals are not included. You’ll have opportunities to purchase food at Lake Mountain and the Chocolaterie.

Q: Is there an age limit? A: The tour is suitable for all ages but is not recommended for guests with very limited mobility, as moving through the snow can be challenging depending on the depth.

Q: Will we see snow for sure? A: The tour only operates when Lake Mountain confirms suitable snow coverage. In cases where we must cancel the tour, an alternative date of travel will be offered or a full refund.
