Occasionally, visitors may notice construction equipment or hear some activity during their tour. Rest assured, we're working in designated areas to minimize any impact on the experience.

The great news? Tours continue as scheduled, and guests will still enjoy the complete Hobbiton experience—plus the unique opportunity to witness the dedicated care that keeps this beloved film location in pristine condition. This essential work safeguards the delicate features of the Hobbit Holes and reinforces the hillsides, ensuring the set remains faithful to the films for generations to come.

Departure Location

• Daily departures: The Shire’s Rest at Hobbiton Movie Set, 501 Buckland Road, Matamata
• 11am departures: Matamata Information Centre, 45 Broadway, Matamata
• Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before your tour is due to depart

• Children under 10 years are free of charge with full paying adult

• Refunds will be paid at 100% if a cancellation is made within policy
