Location
The excitement of walking on one of New Zealand's most famous glaciers - the Franz Josef Glacier - combines with a scenic and thrilling helicopter flight to provide the ultimate alpine experience! You'll be flown in and able to access and explore a part of this famous ice formation that is brimming with a variety of spectacular ice caves and arches. Fly over the pinnacles of the lower icefall where the ice is in constant motion then circle the upper icefall before the helicopter lands in a remote and exceptionally beautiful part of the glacier.
You'll be outfitted with specially designed equipment to deal with ice conditions and follow steps that are cut out as you explore the amazing formations and caves which can only be found in this most unique of New Zealand landscapes. Time
- This is a 3hour trip with 2 hours of that being hiking
- June - July tours operate at 9am and 11.30am
- August - May tours operate at 9am and 11am

- Check in will be at the Franz Josef Glacier Guides office located at 63 Cron Street, Franz Josef / Waiau 7886.

Additional Information
- Minimum age is 8 years of age
- A moderate level of fitness is required
- Customers over 120kg's and/or pregnant will not be able to participate
- Flights operate daily except Christmas Day 25 December. At the completion of purchase, you will need to contact the tour operator to confirm the flight time that suits you (Tour Operator details will be printed in your tour voucher)
- All flights require a minimum number of 3 passengers for departures. Bookings will be accepted for numbers less than the required minimum number on the basis that bookings will be co-ordinated to achieve minimum numbers

- Flight times are approximate and include your landing
- Minimum passenger numbers apply for flights. Bookings will be coordinated to achieve this where possible
- Bookings will be accepted for numbers less than the required minimum as we will coordinate to achieve the required minimum.
- Clients are required to reconfirm their reservation the day prior to flying
